Gene Tenace slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Municipal Stadium where the
Oakland Athletics beat the Cleveland Indians by the score of 9 to 8.
The Cleveland fans didn't appreciate the big day Tenace had. He hit a
bases-empty home run in the 4th inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 2nd
of the season) in the 6th inning. Cleveland was set down quietly in the
bottom of the 9th.
The victory went to Vida Blue(2-0) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 7
runs. Jim Todd gained credit for his 2nd save. Don Hood(0-1) was the losing
pitcher. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 3 and 2/3 innings of work.
