Greg Minton tossed a complete game at Candlestick Park where the San Francisco
Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 7 to 4.
In the bottom of the 7th inning San Francisco scored 3 runs with the help of 4
hits. The key at-bat was by Willie Montanez who brought a roar from the
partisan Candlestick Park fans when he singled bringing in two baserunners.
San Francisco managed 11 hits in their victory.
The win went to Minton(1-0) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Pedro Borbon(6-4)
was the loser in relief. San Francisco now has a record of 76-74. With the
loss, the Cincinnati ballclub's record is 97-53.
