Pete Rose had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the San
Francisco Giants by the score of 11 to 2 at Candlestick Park.
Rose enjoyed a big day at the plate. He tripled which plated a run in the 4th
inning, slapped a base-hit in the 6th inning, doubled bringing in two
baserunners in the 7th inning and ripped a base-knock in the 9th inning. The
Cincinnati offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
Don Gullett(14-4) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Jim Barr(11-17)
was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits and 4 walks
in 5 innings.
With this win, Cincinnati has a division leading 96-52 record. They have been
5-5 lately. With the loss San Francisco now has a record of 75-73.
