Joe Niekro tossed a complete game at The Astrodome as the Houston Astros beat
the Cincinnati Reds 4 to 1.
Houston brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning. The
key at-bat was by Cliff Johnson who brought the crowd to their feet when he
doubled scoring two baserunners. Houston managed 7 hits in their victory.
Niekro(3-4), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Jack
Billingham(12-10) absorbed the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 7
innings.
