Dan Driessen hit 2 doubles as the potent Cincinnati Reds beat the hopeless
Atlanta Braves by a score of 12 to 4.
Cincinnati tallied 6 runs in the top of the 6th inning with the help of 6
hits. The critical plate appearance was by Joe Morgan who deflated the
spirits of the home town crowd when he lofted a three-run bomb (his 15th of
the season). Cincinnati had 15 hits for the game and Atlanta had 8.
The win was credited to Clay Kirby(7-6) who went 6 innings allowing 4 runs.
Kirby got help from Pedro Borbon who earned his 3rd save. Carl Morton(8-17)
took the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 5 and
2/3 innings.
