Gary Nolan had a strong outing as the powerful Cincinnati Reds beat the San
Diego Padres by a score of 5 to 1.

Nolan(19-4) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He allowed only 5 hits
and no walks in 9 innings. Cincinnati totaled 10 hits on the night.

Joe McIntosh(12-13) suffered the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 8 hits in 7
and 2/3 innings. 'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' John
McNamara said. Nolan pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'
