In a dramatic ending at Riverfront Stadium the Cincinnati Reds won in their
last at-bat beating the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 4 to 3.
The game was won by Cincinnati with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
After an out was recorded, Tony Perez drew a walk. George Foster came to the
plate and tripled resulting in an exciting win for Cincinnati and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Despite losing, Pittsburgh
out-hit Cincinnati 10 to 7.
Rawley Eastwick(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Ramon
Hernandez(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
