Reds beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in 12 innings 4 to 3.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Cincinnati was
victorious in the 12th inning. George Foster lined a base-hit. Merv
Rettenmund stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
One out later, Dan Driessen stepped up to the plate and he doubled giving
Cincinnati the victory as 49,792 happy fans celebrated wildly. For the game
Cincinnati out-hit Los Angeles 12 to 9.
Clay Carroll(10-6) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. The
losing pitcher was Charlie Hough(5-4) in relief. He surrendered 4 hits and
no walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
